July Programs

Note:  Annual club potluck picnic is July 28 at Joe Hammell’s cabin beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Sign-up for the Avenues of Service dinner is due August 4.

July 7 – Club Assembly:  Committee meetings

July 14 – Gail McCormick, chairman of the Back Pack Program in the Caledonia school district, spoke about that program.  She works with the elementary and middle school councilors to determine who recieves the back pack of non-perishable food items for the weekend.  Kids get 7-8 items each Friday.  The program is funded by donations.









July 21, 2017 –Sister Marlene spoke about combating human slavery. She was on President Obama’s advisory committee for 1 1/2 years.  She has organized an effort in the LaCrosse area.    Protection, prosecution, and prevention are the keys to dealing with the problem.  She wants to alert people to the issue that is in both rural and urban areas.

July 28 — Larry and Carmel Ledebuhr spoke about their business venture in Caledonia.  They purchased and are remodeling the former motel into an assisted living facility.  They have owned and operated similar facilities in the area previously.  The facility will provide 24-hour care.  There will also be a memory care unit.  There will be a total of 41 units.  Their goal is to open late September or early October.
