Fellow Rotarians Steve Ingvalson and Matt Schuldt spoke about leasing vs getting a loan to buy a car. Since the choice depends on one’s personal use and need, it pays to visit with your local banker before looking at the car!
Rotarian Julie O’Mara Meyer and her co-worker Scott Siegersma of Athena Counseling Services, LLC spoke about happiness and cognative behavioral therapy. Thoughts, feelings and behavior can be thought of as the points of a triangle. It all starts with our thoughts. We should think of the good things that happen in a day.
Melinda Pupillo, program and retreat coordinator, from the Franciscan Spirituality Center spoke about the work of the center. The three areas of emphasis are spiritual direction, out reach to the community, and programs/retreats.
Sheriff Mark Inglett spoke about emergency preparedness in the county. With the recent opening as Emergency Management Director, the position will be parttime. Court Security will be a separate full time position. The aim of the Emergency Management Director will be to work more closely with town boards, cities and fire departments. Code Red is a program to warn citizens about disasters. One can register on the Houston County website. The one-pause alerting system will soon be available. It is the same as the federal program.
