Sarah Johnson, Mental Health Director, YMCA spoke about her work and the Y’s teen center.  The center and her work exists for teens’ enjoyment and to give them a safe place to become good citizens.  The program is for 8th-12th graders from any place in the area.

Denise Malone, YMCA, directs the Livestrong Program.  This is a 12-week small group fitness program for adult cancer survivors who have become de-conditioned or chronically fatigued from their treatment and/or disease.

Martina Mellang, Community and Prevention Program Director at the La Crosse Area YMCA.  The program is aimed at people diagnosed with pre-diabetes.  It’s a year-long program of 25 session led by a trained lifestyle coach.  The goals are to increase physical activity and lose 7% of a person’s weight.

Tom Bjerke entertained us with his classification talk.  He works for Thrivent Financial with his office in Caledonia.  Raised in Spring Grove, he now lives in Brownsville.
