April 7 – Doug Heinz spoke about the robotic milking system at his dairy farm. There are two you tube videos about his operation. He started with robotics in 2008 and has a free-flow system where the cows come in to be milked on their own. There are two dairy farms in Houston County using this system now and about 100 in Minnesota. He and his wife, Julie have been very satisfied with it.
April 14 – Jenny Sauer brought her dogs to demonstrate their search and rescue abilities. She is a member of the Minnesota-Wisconsin K9 Search and Rescue team. This is a volunteer organization whose goal is to help law enforcement find missing persons. They also do educational programs. The dogs are trained in 3 disciplines: trailing, air scents, and human remains.
April 21 – The Caledonia Robotics Team demonstrated their robot. They have been participating in robotics competition and doing well. This is their second year as a team.
April 28 – Kim Rommes led us on a tour of the ABLE headquarters in Caledonia.
